Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Chilaw

    On arrival at the Colombo International Airport you will be greeted by our xenium representative and Proceed to Chilaw, on the way visiting Replica of Murugan temple, dinner & overnight stay at HOTEL IN CHILAW.

  2. Day 2

    Anuradhapura

    After b/fast spend some time enjoying in the Chilaw beach, proceed to Anuradhapura, on the way visiting famous Munneswaram Temple. After his victorious battle, Lord Rama left for Ayodhya, in one of king Ravana’s vimana (carriages). He felt he was a being followed by Bramhaasthi dosham as he had killed King Ravana who was a Brahmin. Legend has it that when he came to this place he felt Bramhaasthi Dosham was not following him and he stopped the vimana and asked God Shiva for remedy. Lord Shiva blessed Lord Rama and advised him to install four lingam there and pray to get Rid of the dosham. Since then many Hindu devotees flock to the temple. Thereafter proceed to Manavari temple. Manavari temple is the first lingam installed and prayed to by Lord Rama and this lingam is also called Ramalinga Shivan. Thereafter proceed to Anuradhapura, (1st capital in Sri Lanka) afternoon visit Sri Maha Bodi tree (oldest sacred tree in the word) oldest and largest stupa in Sri Lanka. Samadi Buddha suture, Isurumuniya temple (legendry of Ramayana)with other ancient Buddhist monuments. Dinner & overnight stay in Anuradhapura.
     

  3. Day 3

    Jaffna

    After b/fast, proceed to Jaffna. En – route visiting Mannar – Thiruketheeswaram temple. Thiruketheswaram temple is ancient Hindu temple in Manner. This ancient temple is a Pre – historic sacred Kovil invented by Mandodari situated in Mannar district about seven miles north of Mannar town. It is famous according to legends as the kovil where Ketu – Bhagavan worshipped Lord Eeswaram. Hence this holy shrine acquired the name of Thiruketheswaram. Long before the arrival of Vijaya (6th century B.C) there was in Lanka five recognized Eeswaram of Siva, which claimed and received adoration of all India. These were Thiruketheshwaram near Mahathitha, Munneswaram, Thondeswaram, Thirukoneshwaram and Naguleshwaram. Mythical stories related to the Indian epic Ramayana recount that Mandodari, the wife of King Ravana was from Manthai and that Mayan, the father of Mandothari and the king of Manthai built the ancient temple of Thiruketheeswaram to worship Siva. There after proceed to Jaffna, dinner & overnight stay at HOTEL IN JAFFNA.
     

  4. Day 4

    Jaffna

    After b/fast, travel to the Nainative island reach the Jetty point from where you have to catch a boat of reach Nagapooshani temple (15 minutes boat ride) Nainative Nagapooshani Amman Temple is an ancient and historic Hindu temple located amidst the Palk Strait on the island of Nainative in Sri Lanka. It is dedicated to Parvati who is known as Nagapooshani or Bhuvaneswari and her consort, Siva who is named here as Nayinaar. The temple’s fame is accredited to Adi Shankaracharya, a 9th century Hindu philosopher, for identifying it as one of the prominent 64 shakthipeethams in Shakthi Peetha Stortram and its mentioned in the Brahmandapurana. According to some tradition, its believed that Angry Shiva performed the fearsome and awe inspiring Tandava dance with Gauri’s charred body on his shoulders. During this dance, Gauri’s body came apart and the pieces fell at different places on earth.

    Nainative Nagapooshani Amman Temple is believed to be where the Silambu (anklets) of Gauri had fallen. Anklets have been given immense importance in the worship of Shakthis in time and memorial. This ornament is also referred to in the famous Tamil epic Silapathikaram – where the story begins and ends with an anklet. Nagapooshani Amman Temple on the island of Nainative is a very ancient hindu temple. It is believed that this temple was originally erected many millennia before by the Nagas who were a pre-historic race of people of Sri Lanka. The temple was originally erected and dedicated for the worship of the Serpent God called “Nayinar” by the Nagas in the Nainative Temple, the object of worship in the sanctum sanctorum is a stone figure of the five – headed cobra. Beside the Nagapooshani Amman temple there are Buddhist temples called Nagadeepa Buddha temple (Buddha visited place).
     
    There after visit keerimalai which is Jaffna city, Keerimalai is a natural spring lying next to the sea west of palali. A bathing tank is built surrendering this pool and only the walls separate the water of the spring and the sea. Although the tank is so close to the sea, the water is fresh coming from an underground fresh water spring in tellipallai-Maviddapuram. The water is not hot and this spring is popular among the Hindus for the miraculous power it holds. Keerimalai translate in to mongoose mound in tamil it’s said that a Indian priest called Naguala Swamy (Naguala Muni) bathed in this pond and his mongoose face was cured and turned in to a human face. According to local folklore a Pandiyan princess named Maruthapuraweerawalli built the Hindu Kovil at Kireemalai when she was cured of her horse shaped head after bathing at Kirimalai.
     
    There after visit Kandashamy Nallur temple in heart of the city of Jaffna, Nallurkandashamy Kovil or Nallur Murugan kovil is one of the most significant Hindu templs in the Jaffna district of northern province in Sri Lanka. it stands in the town of Nallur. the presiding deity is Lord Muruga in the form of the holy wel. the idol of the Nallurdevi or goddess was gifted to the temple in the 10 century by the Chola queen SembiyanMahadevi, in the style of Sembiyan bronzes. dinner & overnight stay in Jaffna.
     

  5. Day 5

    Jaffna

    After b/fast, proceed to Trincomalee, visit Hot water springs at kanniya. visit Thirukoneshwaram temple, (Shankareedevi Temple) wasbuilt by Saga Agasthyar as per the instruction of Lord Siva who was in impressed by the devotion of king Ravana.this place has the uniqueness of the Lord building a temple for his devote as a reward of his devotion Lord Rama also offered his prayers his return to get himself rid of the Brahmaasthi Dosam. dinner& overnight stay in Trincomalee or Nilaweli beach area.

  6. Day 6

    Kandy

    After b/fast, proceed to Kandy on the way visiting Sigiriya rock fortress (optional), Dambulla Golden Buddha stature, Cave temple (optional) Muththumari Amman Hindu temple, evening visit cultural dance show, joining puja ceremony at tooth relic temple, dinner & overnight stay in Kandy.
     

  7. Day 7

    Kandy

    After b/fast proceed to Nuwaraeliya on the way visiting Tea plantation / factory. Ramboda Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple, on these hills of Ramboda where Hanuman Was searching for Sitadevi, the Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka bult a temple with Hanuman as the presiding deity. on every full moon day special puja’s are conducted and witness by thousands of devotees, the Haggala botanical garden was one of the pleasure Gardens of king Ravana of the well-known epic Ramayana. This garden was expended during the British period and has a wide variety of flowers in including and excellent collection of Orchids. This is the exotic pleasure garden where king Ravana kept the depressed Sita. Insisting tht the marry him.
     
    It was here where the hert-warmaing meeting to place between her and Hanuman, who brought her Ramas ring with the news that Rama was looking for her. He offered to carry her back but she refused saying it would be and insult to Rama’s honor if he did so. Visit Ashoka Vatica & Sita Amman temple in Sitaeliya. The stream that runs from the hill, catered to the needs of Sitadevi during her stay at Ashoka Vatica. She is said to have bathed in this stream. now there is a temple dedicated by Lord Rama, Sitadevi, Laxmana, and Hanuman by the Said od this stream. it is interesting to note that footprints akin to Lord Hanuman’s are found by this river – some small and some large. dinner & overnight stay in nuwaraeliya.

  8. Day 8

    Colombo

    After b/fast, proceed to Colombo, visit Vibeeshana temple & kalaniya Buddhist temple. sightseeing tour, Drive though the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as trre-lined residential. Cinnamon garden, visit fort, the former British administrative center and military Gardens, sea street, BMICH, replica of Aukana Buddha stature, independence square etc. dinner & overnight stay in Colombo.
     

  9. Day 9

    Colombo

    After b/fast, transfer to the airport for connecting your return flight. Your tour will end here proceed for your destination with bag full of memorable and lovely Xenium.
